Detailed Service Report & Repair Estimate

Bench Fees Previously Paid: $148.00
π Marantz 2240B Receiver
Initial Customer Concerns
- Crackly / noisy controls
- Broken balance slider
- General βgood as newβ reliability request
Inspection & Findings
Upon inspection, the receiver presented typical age-related oxidation and carbon buildup within the control assemblies. This commonly causes intermittent signal drop, imbalance, and noise during adjustment.
The balance slider assembly is mechanically damaged and does not provide proper channel adjustment. This is not simply a cleaning issue β the internal slider mechanism is compromised and requires replacement to restore full functionality.
The unit is currently undergoing extended operational testing following the initial cleaning service. Due to the age of the receiver, replacement of certain electrolytic capacitors may be required if any components drift out of tolerance or show instability during testing. A final determination will be made once testing is completed.
Otherwise, the unit is structurally sound, cosmetically strong, and electrically stable based on preliminary evaluation.
